Kevin Sorbo Says Hollywood Canceled Him for His Christian Beliefs

Kevin Sorbo, the actor best known for his role as Hercules in the 1990s television series of the same name, has opened up about being “canceled” in Hollywood for his Christian beliefs and conservative views.

Sorbo, 64, told Fox News Digital that he was dropped by his agent and manager after he began expressing his political and religious views on social media. He said that he was told that he would no longer be able to get work in Hollywood because of his beliefs.

“It was sad to me, you know, my manager and agent for so many years said that we can’t get you jobs anymore, work with you because of you being a Christian, being a conservative,” Sorbo said. “And I almost had to laugh at that because it’s an industry that screams for tolerance, and yet it’s a one-way street. It screams for freedom of speech. But Hollywood’s a one-way street as well. And that’s just too bad, you know. But I love the industry. I love the movies and TV.”

Sorbo is not the only actor who has spoken out about being canceled in Hollywood for their conservative views. In recent years, there has been a growing trend of actors and other celebrities being blacklisted for their political beliefs. This trend has been attributed to the increasing political polarization in the United States.

Sorbo said that he and his wife, Sam, decided to form their own production company, Sorbo Studios, after he was canceled. The company produces family-friendly faith-based entertainment. Sorbo and Sam’s latest film, “Miracle in East Texas,” is a true story about the largest oil field in the history of the world. The film is set in 1930 and stars Sorbo and John Ratzenberger as two con men who accidentally strike oil.

Sorbo said that he and Sam hope that “Miracle in East Texas” will help to bring families back to the movies. They also hope that the film will send a message of hope and redemption.

“We do live in this culture of canceling people,” Sam said. “And that, of course, is the opposite of forgiving them. And the movie, one of the themes in this movie and part of the reason that we fell in love with it is it has a theme of redemption, has a theme of forgiveness. And, you know, every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future.”

“We want to get families back to the theaters again to start laughing again,” Sorbo said. “The opposite of what Hollywood does. We did a movie about love and hope and faith and laughter.”

“Miracle in East Texas” will open in select theaters on October 29-30.
