Amber Heard's Director Says She Has a "Hell of a Comeback" Ahead

Despite the recent defamation trial against Johnny Depp, Amber Heard’s director in her upcoming film, “In the Fire,” believes she has a bright future in Hollywood.

Conor Allyn told People magazine that he thinks the indie thriller will be a “platform” for Heard to make a “hell of a comeback.”

“Amber has an incredibly bright future ahead,” Allyn said. “I think ‘In the Fire’ showcases her talents as an actor. I know this is something she is very proud of, and it’s something we are very excited to release to the public.”

Heard stars in “In the Fire” as a psychiatrist named Grace set in the 1890s. The film wrapped production in March 2022, several months before her infamous trial with Depp began in Virginia.

Allyn praised Heard for her performance in the film, saying she “had an immediate connection with this character and her skills and talents and intelligence but also her flaws; she could bring them to life in a way no one else could.”

He added that Heard was “passionate” about the role and the film, and that her dedication set a tone for everyone else on set.

“People don’t do indie films for the paycheck, they do it out of passion,” Allyn said. “Your job as a director is to get everyone as excited as you are. With Amber, I had a partner who had the same passion for the role and for the movie and the story itself.”

Heard herself spoke about the film at the premiere, saying it is “a beautiful movie about the almost supernatural effect and force of love.”

“It is about the boundaries that love can cross and its creation, and really about the overwhelming power that love has,” she said. “I don’t want to sound cheesy about it, but it’s a movie about love.”

Allyn said that he believes Heard has the potential to be a successful director herself, saying she has “the ability and the intelligence and the charisma to direct or to write if she wants to.”

“I can see her directing,” he said.

“In the Fire” also stars Eduardo Noriega, Lorenzo Mcgovern Zaini, Yari Gugliucci and Luca Calvani. It is set to be released later this year.
