Billie Eilish and Finneas on Fans Throwing Objects at Artists on Stage We Get It, But Don't Do It

Billie Eilish and Finneas have weighed in on the recent trend of fans throwing objects at artists on stage. The siblings, who are both musicians, say that they understand why fans do it, but that it is still dangerous and infuriating.

“I’ve been getting hit on stage with things for like literally six years,” Eilish told The Hollywood Reporter. “People just get excited and it can be dangerous.”

Finneas added that fans often aren’t trying to actually hit the artist, and they aren’t throwing things like tomatoes and oranges in protest, but usually phones to get pictures. However, Eilish says that it is still “absolutely infuriating” to be hit with anything while on stage.

“I have mixed feelings about it,” she said. “When you’re up there it blows. But you know it’s out of love and they’re just trying to give you something.”

The siblings ended by urging fans to stop throwing objects at artists on stage. “Don’t do it — we get it but don’t do it,” Finneas said. Eilish echoed, “Don’t throw things on stage, but we love you; it’s very sweet.”

Eilish and Finneas attended the premiere of the new movie “Barbie” in support of their new song “What Was I Made For?” on the soundtrack. They said that they were inspired to write the song after seeing the movie early. “The movie was great and we’re big fans of [director] Greta [Gerwig] and have been forever so we figured it probably would be but then it really was,” Finneas said. “We were super inspired to write a song.”

“Barbie” hits theaters on July 21.
