Shannen Doherty, '90210' Star, Reveals Cancer Has Spread to Brain

Shannen Doherty, the 50-year-old actress best known for her roles in “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed,” revealed in an emotional Instagram video that her cancer has spread to her brain.

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She underwent chemotherapy, radiation, and a mastectomy, and went into remission in 2017. However, in 2020, she announced that her cancer had returned, and was now stage 4.

In the video, Doherty shared footage of her undergoing a CT scan, during which her doctors found metastases, or tumors, on her brain. She began radiation treatment on January 12.

“My fear is obvious,” Doherty wrote in the caption. “I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at cedar sinai. But that fear…. The turmoil…. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like.”

Doherty’s announcement has sparked an outpouring of support from fans and friends. Many have praised her for her courage and strength in sharing her story.

“You are an inspiration to us all,” wrote one fan. “Thank you for sharing your journey.”

“I’m so sorry to hear this news,” wrote another. “But I’m also so inspired by your strength and courage. You’re a fighter.”

Doherty has not yet commented on her prognosis, but she has said that she is determined to fight the cancer and live her life to the fullest.

“I’m not going to let this define me,” she said in a recent interview. “I’m going to keep fighting.”

Doherty’s story is a reminder that cancer can strike anyone, at any time. But it is also a reminder that there is hope. With courage, strength, and the support of loved ones, it is possible to beat cancer and live a full and happy life.
