Toby Keith Feeling Good, Hoping to Return to Stage Soon
Country music star Toby Keith is feeling good and is hopeful to return to the stage soon, his representatives said Tuesday.
The 61-year-old singer, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021, has been undergoing treatment and has been taking time off from touring.
However, his representatives said that he is “feeling good” and that they “are anticipating Toby will be on the road again soon.”
Keith himself told The Oklahoman earlier this month that he is optimistic about his health, saying that “basically, everything is in a real positive trend.”
He also said that he is thinking about bringing his band in and setting up to play a few shows to see if he can still perform for two hours.
“All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work,” he said.
Keith is a longtime advocate for families facing cancer diagnoses, and established the Toby Keith Foundation in 2006 to “encourage the health and happiness of pediatric cancer patients.”
He recently celebrated his 19th annual “Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic,” which raised a record-breaking $1.8 million.
His representatives said that he is “grateful for the support of his fans and medical team” and that he is “looking forward to getting back on the road and playing for his fans again.”
