Michelle Yeoh, the Oscar-winning actress who wowed audiences with her performance in “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” is set to reprise her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou in the upcoming “Star Trek: Section 31” movie.

First introduced as the character in 2017 on the Emmy-winning “Star Trek: Discovery” TV series on Paramount+, Yeoh will also serve as an executive producer for the film. News of Yeoh’s return was announced by CBS Studios and Paramount+ on Tuesday.

In a statement released by the studios, Yeoh expressed her excitement for returning to the role, saying, “I am beyond thrilled to be able to revisit the iconic role of Philippa Georgiou and to continue her story in the ‘Star Trek: Section 31’ movie. This character has been near and dear to my heart since I began the journey of playing Philippa all the way back when this new golden age of ‘Star Trek’ launched.”

The “Section 31” movie will follow Yeoh’s character as she joins a secret division of Starfleet, tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets while grappling with the consequences of her past.

For Yeoh, who made history as the first woman of Asian descent to win an Oscar in the best actress category in March, it’s been a year of dreams coming true. “Everything Everywhere All At Once” won seven Oscars that night, including Yeoh’s big win and the top prize for best picture.

“To see her finally get her moment is a dream come true in a year that’s shown me the incredible power of never giving up on your dreams,” Yeoh said of her character, Philippa Georgiou.

Production on “Star Trek: Section 31” is set to begin later this year, and fans of the franchise are eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Yeoh’s journey as Emperor Philippa Georgiou.
